Brief History of the Department
Following the establishment of Faculty of Communication and Information Sciences (CIS) via the decision of the Senate at its 193rd (Special) meeting held on 20th June, 2008, the Department of Library and Information Science was created to complement other four Departments. These are Departments of Computer Science, Telecommunication Science, Mass Communication, and Information and Communication Science.
Philosophy of the Department
The Department of Library and Information Science of the University of Ilorin is committed to the University’s mission of teaching, learning, research and community services. As a professional Department, it educates its students, in both theory and practice, to identify, acquire, organise, and disseminate information. By integrating information technology across the curriculum, the Department will impart the knowledge and skills of the profession in preserving and providing access to the records of our cultural heritage and the documents of scholarly research.//php the_content();?>
