Admission Requirement

Admission Requirements for the Bachelor of Aquaculture and Fisheries

Admission into the programme shall be through UTME and Direct Entry. The interested candidate must have the following qualifications: 

Admission into the 100 Level through UTME

Minimum of 5 ‘O’ level WAEC, SSCE, GCE, NABTEB Credits at not more than two sittings in English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, Biology or Agricultural Science.

  • UMTE subjects shall include English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry and one of Biology and Agricultural Science.

Admission into 200 Level through Direct Entry

Candidates with any of the following qualifications are eligible for admission into 200 level:

  1. Candidates that have minimum O-level condition of 5 credit passes in WASSCE/GCE/NECO/ NABTEB and in addition have GCE ‘A’ level passes in Chemistry, Biology and Physics.  
  1. Candidates that have minimum O-level condition of 5 credit passes in WASSCE/GCE/NECO/ NABTEB and in addition have OND/ND in Aquaculture and Fisheries, or other related disciplines such as Biology, Botany, Zoology, Agriculture with at least lower credit grade. 
  1. Candidates that have minimum O-level condition of 5 credit passes in WASSCE/GCE/NECO/ NABTEB and in addition have obtained Higher National Diploma (HND) with a minimum of credit grade (60-69%) from a College of Agriculture/Fisheries recognized by the University in Aquaculture and Fisheries, or other related disciplines such as Biology, Botany, Zoology, Agriculture with at least lower credit grade. 
  1. Candidates that have minimum O-level condition of 5 credit passes in WASSCE/GCE/NECO/ NABTEB and in addition have obtained National Certificate of Education (NCE) with a minimum of credit grade (60-69%) from a Nigerian College of Education recognized by the University in Aquaculture and Fisheries, or other related disciplines such as Biology, Botany, Zoology, Agriculture with at least lower credit grade. 
  1. Candidates are accepted on transfer into the Department only at 200 level if he has satisfied the UTM entry requirements into the Department and he/she is on good standing based on 1.50 CGPA as may be reviewed by the Department/University.
