Mr. AbdulGaniyu Olaniyan, a seasoned and professionally qualified accountant, who is well grounded in the fields of Accounting, Taxation and Financial Management, joined the services of the better-by-far University, University of Ilorin, as a Senior Accountant in the Bursary Department, where he rose steadily to become a Deputy Bursar in 2019, the position he occupies till present.
He attended the Federal Polytechnic, Bida, Niger State for his undergraduate Diploma and Bayero University, Kano, for his Post-Graduate Diploma, where he was awarded HND Accountancy in 2001 and PGD (Finance and Banking) in 2006 respectively. In 2008, he became an Associate Member (ACA) of the most prestigious Professional Accountancy body in Nigeria, the Institute of Chartered Accountant of Nigeria (ICAN) in 2008. Due to his quest for University Degree qualification, in 2017, he also bagged his B sc. Degree in Accounting with a Second Class Upper Division from Kwara State University, Malete. In the year 2020, he became a Fellow (FCA) of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, (ICAN).
As a highly experienced Bursary staff, he has worked in various Units of the Department, such as Final Accounts Unit, Salaries, Loans and Advances Unit and Budget, Expenditure and Stores Unit. He was at a time the head of Procurement Unit of the University, the office he headed until the appointment of a substantive Procurement officer of the institution.
Before joining the services of the University of Ilorin, he had worked as a Teacher at Kano Capital Girls Secondary School, Kano, as a Senior Account Teacher, between 2003 and 2006. In 2006, he joined the services of Obat Oil and Petroleum Ltd, Apapa, Lagos, as an Accountant. After leaving Obat Oil and Petroleum Limited, he worked with TAO Associates, a firm of Chartered Accountants and Tax Practitioners, same in Lagos and Moradeyo Bukoye & Co. Chartered Accountants And Management Consultants, Ilorin, as a Senior Auditor and Audit Manager respectively, between 2008 and 2009.
Mr. Olaniyan has participated in various conferences and workshops on Accounting, Auditing, Taxation, Financial Management and leadership training.
He is a very hard working, responsible and due diligent staff, who has zero tolerance for laziness and lackadaisical attitude to work. In 2016, he received an award from the University for being the most outstanding staff of Bursary Department. He is a good team player who is passionate about having the Vision and Mission of the University actualized. He is happily married and blessed with children, including a set of twins.
