Prof. G. T. Arosanyin

Brief Profile . 

Professor Godwin Tunde AROSANYIN is a Professor of Economics with specialisation in Transport Economics. He got his BSc and MSc in Economics from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria in 1989 and 1994 respectively. He obtained his PhD in Economics from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, in 2001.  

Professor Arosanyin has over fifty (50) journal articles and chapters in books in transport economics. He has also co-edited three (3) books. He has presented over forty (40) conference and workshop papers. He has close to three decades of teaching, research and consultancy in transport such as infrastructure, road safety, transport policy and planning, informal transport, non-motorised transport, urban and rural transport, road freight, rail, transport and the environment, transport data management, transport corridor development, transport legislation, public private partnership (PPP), transport stakeholders’ management, etc.  

Since joining the University in 1994, Professor Arosanyin has served in various capacities among which are level adviser (1994-2002), Staff adviser to Nigerian Economics Students’ Association (NESA) (1996-2003), Coordinator, Diploma in Money and Banking (2000-2002), postgraduate coordinator-Economics, coordinator, Faculty Professional Programme (2008-2009) Head of Department (2009-2010, 2015-2017) and Director, Ilorin Business School (2017-2020). 

At the committee level, Professor Arosanyin has served in various University Committees/Boards, among which are: Postgraduate School Board (2012-2014), University Examinations, Scholarships and Prizes (2001-2005), Curriculum Reform (2015-2017), Senate (2011-2013). He has also served as University Senate representative on the following: Student Disciplinary Committee (SDC) (2012-2013), Board of Institute of Education (2017-2019) Development Committee (2019-2021). Other university committees on which he served include, Campus Transportation Board (2005), Committee of Housemasters and Mistresses (2009-2013), UNILORIN Guest House Management Board (2016-2019) and UNILORIN Strategic Plan Implementation, Monitoring and Evaluation Committee (2016-2019). He served as technical advisor/chairman of the UNILORIN PPP Hostel Development Committee (2011-2018/2018-2022). He is presently a Senate representative on Appointment and Promotions Committee (Senior Staff). 

Professor Arosanyin has worked as consultant on over twenty-four (24) projects some of which are Kogi Vision of Development (UNDP/NCEMA-1997); Traffic pollution in selected urban centres in Nigeria (Federal Ministry of Transportation/Leo -Theo Associates-2006); Current impact of motorcycle growth in Lagos City (World Bank/LAMATA/NITT-2007); Traffic demand and socio-economic impact analysis on selected Nigerian Railway sections along the Lagos-Kano Corridor (CCECC/Gezhil Allied and Technical Company-2007); 2008 Oyo State Millennium Development Goals Report (Oyo State Government/Yemdel Consultancies-2008). 

He served as transport advisor to DFID funded Nigeria Infrastructure Advisory Facility (NIAF) on the following projects: Development of FCT land transport policy (FCDA-2009/2010);  Development and finalisation of the Federal roads and bridges tolling policy (Federal Ministry of Works/FERMA/ICRC-2011/2013); Framework and road map for mass transit in Nigeria (Federal Ministry of Trade and Investment-2012); Development of Adamawa State transport policy (Adamawa State government -2012); Development of Kano State transport policy (Kano State government -2013); Drafting of legislation for the establishment of Kano Metropolitan Area Transport Authority KAMATA (Kano State government -2013). 

He has also served as transport advisor to Nathan Associates Inc. on the Development of corridor management and governance structure for the Lagos-Kano-Jibiya/Daura corridor (USAID/MARKETS-2019/2020). 

Professor Arosanyin was once the Editor-in-Chief of Ilorin Journal of Business and Social Sciences (IJBSS) (2005-2007).  

Professor Arosanyin is the 9th Director, Academic Planning Unit of the University of Ilorin.
