Dr. Falilat A.Okesina is currently a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Counsellor Education, Faculty of Education, University of Ilorin.  Dr. Falilat A. Okesina was born in Maiduguri, Nigeria on the 28th of May, 1961.  She attended her primary education at Ibadan, her secondary school at Ijebu-Ode, Grade II Teachers’ College (Special) Oyo and her University education at University of Ilorin for her first, second and third degrees between 1995 to 2012.

Dr. Okesina started her academic career as a Counsellor at the University of Ilorin Counselling and Human Development Centre in 2011 as a non-teaching staff before converting to a lecturer at the Department of Counsellor Education, University of Ilorin in 2013 as a Lecturer II staff.

She has to her credit, 30 publications in reputable journals both in local, national and international journals.   She attended several training workshops, seminars and conferences within the country.   She is a member of Association of Professional Counsellors of Nigeria (APROCON).  Her research interests are in school and rehabilitation counseling, and recently she has developed interest in mental health due to the suicide attempt by students and has been working on it.  She has successfully supervised some master’s level students and has some Ph.D. students she is supervising too. Dr. Okesina became the Director of Unilorin Counselling and Human Development Centre (UCHDC) in November 6th, 2020.  Dr. Okesina is happily married with children.   Her hobbies include reading, travelling, basketball and music.    Her contact details are Department of  Counsellor Education, Faculty of Education, University of Ilorin, Ilorin, Nigeria.
