Professor Oyeronke Olademo

Professor Oyeronke Olademo, the Director of the Centre for Peace and Strategic Studies, University of Ilorin is a Professor of Comparative Religion and Gender in the Department of Religions, University of Ilorin. She obtained the B.A. (Hons), M.A. and Ph. D degrees in Religions all from the University of Ilorin, Nigeria. Her areas of specialization include Comparative religion, Theological Perspective of Peace and Gender Studies. She joined the service of the University of Ilorin on 11th April, 1990 as an Assistant Lecturer and rose to the rank of Professor in September, 2011.
She has participated in several academic and national assignments. Academic assignments such as Researcher, Study Group for Education Trust Fund (ETF) on ‘Religion and State Security: Information System on Churches and Mosques in Ilorin Metropolis’ September 2011-2014; Consultant to Inter-Faith Anti-Corruption Advisory Committee (IAAC) and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in the development of manual for anti-corruption teaching in churches in Nigeria titled ‘ Anti-Corruption Teaching Manual for Churches in Nigeria, March 2011-2013; and Principal Investigator, 2016-2017 Institutional-Based Research TETFUND Fund (IBRF) on the project titled ‘Resolving Inter-Ethnic Crises in Nigeria through Internal Mechanism: The Case of Share-Tsaragi, Kwara State’. She is the immediate past Dean of the Faculty of Arts-2017-2019. National assignments included Member, Academia Consultative Forum on the Development of a National Policy on Public Safety and Security, Ministry of Police Affairs-October 2014; Moderator, Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB)-February, 2017-date and the Collation Officer, Ilorin West Local Government General Elections (Presidential)- January, 2019.
Professor Olademo has served as reviewer for many national and international journals, and has contributed to the editorial process of the publications of several books and Encyclopedia. She is the sole author of two books and co-editor of many books.

She has participated severally as team leader and member of National University Commission (NUC) accreditation exercise in several Universities across the country. She is also engaged in professorial assessment of academic staff in prominent Universities nationally and internationally. To date she has successfully supervised twelve (12) Ph.D. candidates and more than forty (40) Masters’ degree candidates in the Department of Religions, University of Ilorin and joint supervision in other international universities.
Professor Olademo belongs to prominent national and international professional associations. She is a member of Nigerian Association for the Study of Religions (NASR), National Association for Biblical Studies (NABIS), Regional Officer, African Association for the Study of Religions (AASR), and Member International Association for the History of Religions (IAHR).
She delivered the 136th Inaugural lecture of the University of Ilorin on 27th June, 2013 titled:’ The Paradox of Love: Women and Religion in Society’. She has to her credit over 65 publications in recognized journals and textbooks spread across home-based, national and international outlets. She was appointed as the Director, Centre for peace and Strategic Studies, University of Ilorin, on 14th July, 2020, by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Sulyman Age Abdulkareem.
