The Institute of Education

The Institute of Education, University of Ilorin, started as a Department of Continuing Education and Extension Services on March 1, 1980.  The department was later restructured as a semi-autonomous Institute of Education on March 1, 1981.  The Institute concerned itself primarily with in-service and extra-mural programmes, the Institute has, over the years widened its scope to include Sandwich degree programmes, the Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE), the Postgraduate Certificate in Education PGCE), Pre-degree Diplomas and the M.Ed degree in various fields of Education.  In addition, the Institute organizes programmes and activities aimed at truly integrating the “town and the gown”
