The DVC Academic

Professor Kolade Luke Ayorinde, Department of Animal Production, has been appointed the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, (Academic).

He joined the University services in May, 1987 as Lecturer II.  Born in 1954 at Ayetoro Ile, Ilorin East Local Governemnt Area of Kwara State, Professor Ayorinde attended Titcombe College, Egbe, from 1968 to 1972; University of Ibadan, Ibadan between 1975 and 1979 where he bagged B.Sc. (Animal Science) Prof Ayorindewith Second Class Upper Division in 1979.  Between 1981 and 1982, he returned to the University of Ibadan, Ibadan, for his postgraduate programmes.  He was awarded M.Sc. (Animal Science) in 1982 and  Ph.D  in the same discipline in 1987 at the University of Ibadan. Professor Ayorinde has won many scholarships, honours and distinctions, among which are SIM/ECWA Scholarship, 1969-1970; Kwara State Scholarship, 1975-1976; Federal Government Scholarship, 1976-1982; African Senior Fulbright Research Fellowship, 1995-1996; Sportsman of the Year 1974; University of Ibadan Sports Honours, 1979 and Nigerian Society of Animal Production Roll of Honour, 1992.   Apart from his membership of some professional bodies, he is also a member of various associations, some of which include Nigerian Society of Animal Production, Genetics Society of Nigeria, West African Animal Society for Animal Production and the World Poultry Science Association.

The new Deputy Vice-Chancellor, the immediate former Dean of Agriculture who has held numerous administrative posts in the past, has also written and co-written 39 journal articles, nine edited proceedings and 12 technical papers.

Prof. Ayorinde is married to Mrs. Adejoke Ayorinde and the marriage is blessed with children.

The DVC Management Services

Professor Albert Bamikole Olayemi, the immediate past Director of Academic Planning Unit, has been appointed the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Management Services. Prof OlayemiThe office of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Management Services), which used to be Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), is an innovation adopted from other universities like the University of Lagos and a few others. The Professor of Water Microbiology attended Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria for his first and second degrees and the University of Ilorin for his Ph.D.

He assumed duty in the University of Ilorin as Lecturer II in the Department of Biological Sciences in 1982 and rose through the ranks to become a Professor in October, 1999.  He had previously worked as a Graduate Assistant and Principal Research Officer at Ahmadu Bello University and Institute for Leather and Chemical Technology, Zaria, respectively between 1975 and 1982.

Professor Olayemi, an internal member of the University Governing Council, has served the University in various capacities such as member and Chairman of various Committees. He had also served on the Executive Committee of the Unilorin Branch of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), just as he had piloted the affairs of the University Senior Staff Club as its President.

Professor Olayemi has written and co-written more than 26 articles and contributed several chapters to books. He is a member of many professional societies including Nigeria Society for Microbiology, Society of Nigeria Biotechnology, Nigeria Society for Biological Consideration and Nigerian Environmental Study Team.  He is married to Mrs. Beatrice Olayemi and blessed with four children.

The Bursar
Mr. Ayodele Sijuwola became the Bursar of the University in August 2007. He was born on 20th June, 1954 at Ojoku, in Oyun local government area of Kwara State. His academic life began when he was at Methodist Primary School, Ojoku in 1960 where he obtained his first school leaving certificate. He later proceeded to Jesus College, Oturkpo, Benue State in 1968. He had his tertiary Education at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria where he bagged his B.Sc. (Hons) degree in Accounting in 1978.

The Bursar is a member of Professional bodies such as the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria and Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Nigeria, among others.

Mr. Sijuwola had a stint with the Kwara State Printing & Publishing Corporation, Ilorin between 1979 and 1981 and the Nigerian Television Authority, Ilorin between October 1981 to March 1986 before he took up an appointment with the University of Ilorin as a Principal Internal Auditor in 1986. He rose through the ladder as Chief Internal Auditor, Chief Accountant and Deputy Bursar before his appointment as the Acting Bursar in August 2002. He held the post of Ag. Bursar unitl his present appointment which was done by August, 2007

He loves football game. He is happily married and has four children.

The Registrar
Mrs. Olufolake Oladunni Oyeyemi, the first female Registrar of the University was appointed on 28th April, 2003 for a five-year tenure. RegistrarMrs. Oyeyemi started her administrative career with the old Ondo State Civil Service in 1977 as a Higher Executive Officer. She moved on from there to join the services of the University of Ilorin in 1979 as an Administrative Officer I and rose through the ranks to the position of Deputy Registrar in charge of Council Office in 1997, a position she held until her appointment as Registrar.

She was born in Akure Local Government Area of Ondo State. She attended St. Thomas Primary School between 1959 and 1964; Fiwasaiye Anglican Girls' Grammar School, Akure from 1965 to 1969; Christ’s School, Ado Ekiti from 1970 to 1971 for Higher School Certificate (HSC), after which she proceeded to the University of Ibadan, where she obtained a Bachelor of Arts (Hons.) degree in French in 1976. She did the compulsory National Youth Service in Kwara State between 1976 and 1977. In 1987, she obtained a Master of Science in Higher Education (with emphasis in University Administration) in the University of Surrey, Guildford, United Kingdom.

A seasoned and experienced Administrator, widely traveled  and a consummate reader of literature, she is an Associate Member of  the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria; Member, Committee of Registrars of Nigerian Universities; and Member, Association of Nigerian Universities of Professional Administrators (ANUPA).

She has brought into the office of the Registrar a breath of freshness and a new sense of direction for the administrative staff in providing a strong administrative backbone to the management of the University. She has pursued with vigour her vision of an efficient and effective Registry, which is positioned for the challenges of the twenty-first century. Having identified the necessary tools with which to achieve excellence in service delivery, she encourages self-development, discipline, hard work, punctuality and decent dressing among the staff.

She is happily married and blessed with children.

Ag. Librarian
An Acting University Librarian has been appointed for the University.  She is Mrs. Alice Ayanrinola Adewoye.  She is aged 57, a native of Ogbomoso in Oyo State.

She attended Baptist Women’s College, Idi-Aba, Abeokuta from 1963 to 1965; Morehead State University , USA from 1970 to 1973, where she bagged a B.A. in Geography with Teaching Certificate; and University of Denver, Denver, Colorado USA, from 1975 to 1976, where she was awarded an M.A. (Library Science), through the study grant by the University.
 
Mrs. Adewoye began work as a class teacher at Masifa Primary School, Ogbomoso between 1966 and 1970.  She later became Library Assistant at Morehead State University Library between 1971 and 1973 and Assistant Librarian, University of Denver Library between 1974 and 1976. She joined the services of the University of Ilorin Library on November 15, 1976 as an Assistant Librarian.  She rose through the ranks to become a Deputy University Librarian (Readers’ Services) from 2002 to 2005 and later as an Officer-in-Charge of the Library in 2006, following the exit of the substantive University Librarian, Prof. Mathew Ajibero who had been appointed as Rector, Kogi State Polytechnic.

The Acting University Librarian has 15 individual and joint publications to her credit, seven completed research projects and paper presentations at conferences and workshops.  She is a member of professional and community associations and societies.

Mrs. Adewoye is married to Prof. Sam A. Adewoye of the Department English.  The marriage is blessed with children.
