MANAGEMENT

The management of NACHRED is reposed in the following three arms:

  • The Governing Board
  • The Technical Advisory Committee
  • The Directorship of the Centre

GOVERNING BOARD

Functions of the Board

  1. To establish guidelines for the overall direction of the Centre
  2. To determine the research and training policy of the Centre and approve funds related to projects thereto
  3. To ensure the implementation of the Federal Government’s objectives for establishing the Centre
  4. To manage the property and finances including investments, if any, of the Centre
  5. To receive periodic reports on the Centre’s progress including an annual report, a copy of which shall be forwarded to the Energy Commission of Nigeria as well as the University Senate.
  6. To appoint from its own members or otherwise such committees as may be deemed fit and to delegate to such committees certain assignments on behalf of the Governing Board

TECHNICAL ADVISORY COMMITTEE (TAC)

The functions and powers of TAC are:

  1. To advise the Director on the preparation and implementation of research and training programmes of the centre within the framework of the general policy guidelines set by the Board.
  2. To advise the Director on the preparation of  the annual programme of research
  3. To advise the Director on the preparation of the annual budget estimates.
  4. To receive and consider requests for joint research from relevant external agencies and institutions.
  5. To appoint from its own members or otherwise such Committee as may be deemed fit, and to delegate to any such Committee any of the functions which TAC is competent to handle.
  6. To consider any matter relating to energy research and training programmes of the Centre and to deal with any matter referred to it by the Governing Board.
  7. To furnish the Governing Board with periodic reports of its proceedings.

 

DIRECTOR OF THE CENTRE

The Director is the head of the Centre. He is Chief Academic /Administrative Officer of the Centre.

  1. The Director is appointed for a term of three years renewable for another term;
  2. The Director is responsible to the Governing Board of the Centre, through the Vice-Chancellor, for the day to day administration of the Centre and in particular for:
    1. The organization and co-ordination of the activities of the centre
    2. The preparation and control of the centre’s budget
    3. The submission of the Centre’s periodic reports
    4. Liaising with the Energy Commission of Nigeria and other appropriate Federal Government departments to ensure implementation of the objectives for which the Centre is established.
    5. Liaising with other bodies and institutions engaged in other renewable energy research, development and training.

ADMINISTRATION

Administrative Secretary  
The Secretariat of the Centre is headed by the Administrative Secretary.  The Administrative Secretary shall be appointed by the Governing Board.  He is the Secretary of the Governing Board and also provides efficient administrative support to the Director.

ACCOUNTS

Finance Officer
There is an Accounts Section, headed by a Finance Officer.  He shall be appointed by the Board.  He is functionally responsible to the Director and be professionally responsible to the University Bursar.
