Brief History of the Department
The Department of Information and Communication Science (ICS) was formally established by the decision of the University of Ilorin Senate at its 193rd meeting held on 20th June, 2008 as part of the creation of the Faculty of Communication and Information Sciences (CIS). The Faculty of CIS comprises the Departments of Computer Science, Mass Communication, Library and Information Science, Information and Communication Science and Telecommunication Science.
The main goal of the ICS programme is to produce well-grounded graduates who can explicitly relate theory to practice with essential transferable skills such as communication, task/project management and team work, and who can take leading roles in the highly competitive informatics profession and can develop innovative ICT solutions using scientific approaches and state-of-the-art tools and techniques.
