The Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology, University of Ilorin, Prof. D.S. Ogunniyi, has urged alumni of the Faculty to look back and collaborate with the University management to transform the institution into an Ivy League University.

Prof. Ogunniyi, who made the call penultimate Wednesday (April 3, 2019) while receiving equipment donated to the Faculty by the 1995 graduating set of the Faculty, said that the donated equipment would contribute to learning and development of the Faculty.

While appreciating the efforts of the 1995 set, the Dean also outlined other achievements of other graduating sets. He said, “The Faculty has been enjoying goodwill from the alumni; the Graphic Room was renovated and furnished by the 2007 set, while a classroom was also renovated and furnished by the 1998 set. I am really grateful for your contributions to the development of the Faculty and the Vice-Chancellor will be delighted and honoured by your sense of belonging and the spirit of giving back to your alma mater. I therefore urge other established alumni sets to further strive to contribute to the development of this Faculty to world class standard".

Speaking on behalf of the 1995 set, Engr. Tunde Adesokan, who expressed delight that they could give back to their alma mater, said that the gesture was the first phase of their donation.

Engr. Adesokan said, "We feel blessed giving back to our alma mater, although it wasn't easy but we made a promise to the Faculty and we had to fulfill it. This is just the first phase of this donation as we want other Departments to benefit from this development”.

“We also intended to embark on public private partnerships to establish a Cisco Network Academy where students can learn and be IT certified before graduation. This has been done in other private and Federal universities and we would love to replicate this development in our alma mater ", he submitted.

Members of the 1995 set that presented the equipment's to the Dean were represented by , Engr. Lola Akinyemi, Engr. Tunde Adesokan, Engr. Shogo Popoola and Engr. Hussain Olatunde.

Some of the equipment donated to the Faculty include, Hardness Tester, Arc Welding Machine, Deep Cycle Batteries, Kleen Testing Tools, while other equipment are expected to be delivered to the Faculty soon.
