 (i) Clinical
I have maintained constant touch with clinical practice both in Nigeria and in Britain through the following appointments:
1995:Visiting Medical Officer, Carosi Catholic Hospital, OSI, I took part in general patient supervision.
1991-1994:Visiting Medical Officer, University of Ilorin Health Centre where I took part in out-patient clinics, supervision of in-patient and drug trials.
1981-1984:Clinical assistant at Leeds General Infirmary and St. James Hospital, Leeds, U.K.  At these hospitals, I was responsible for conducting cardiovascular clinics for patients with ischaemic heart disease.  Exercise tests were regularly conducted.
1978-1981:Medical Registrar, General Hospital, Ilorin.  As a registrar in the Department of Medicine, I worked under the Consultant to conduct outpatient hypertensive and cardiac clinics.  I also took part in the care of in-patients.
1976-1978:Medical Officer, Kabba General Hospital, As the Medical Officer-in-charge, I was responsible for general administration and general clinical duties.  This included general out-patient clinics and theatre sessions for minor surgical operations.
1977-1978:Visiting Medical Officer: St. Vincent Catholic Mobile Clinic, Kabba (E.H.J Order).  I was involved in providing general medical services to patients.
1975-1976:Medical Officer-in-charge of two hospitals at Igbuobazuwa and Usen (Ovia Local Government Area, Edo State).  In this position, I was responsible for general administration, General Medical and Surgical duties.
1974-1975:Housemanship at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, Lagos.  This appointment was mainly a rotating internship through the departments of Internal Medicine, Paediatrics and Child-Health, General Surgery and Orthopaedics.

(i) RESEARCH INTERES

(i) My main area of interest is in the Cardiovascular System.  Research activities have been largely on cardiovascular reflexes, especially interactions between central reflexogenic areas and the peripheral cardiovascular reflexes.  These include the “Central chemoreceptors” peripheral chemoreceptors, baroreceptors, gastro-intestinal receptors.  Human Baroreceptor activities in health and disease.  

(ii) I am also interested in Exercise Physiology and Cardiovascular Homeostasis, ECG and Coronary Ischaemia.  Future thrust in this area will among others include the chronobiology of the cardiovascular variables.
(iii) Haemorheology: Interest in this area is limited to clinical and comparative studies involving muscular exercise, obstetrics and gynaecological conditions.
(iv) Nutrition: Interest in this area involves studies on phytonutrients, growth rates, effects of Trona, Broad beans and Vitamins.
(v) Medical Education: Innovative medical education, involving student centred learning, problem based learning and student evaluation.
(vi) Evaluation of tissue responses to parasitic infestation.
(vii) Analgesic and anti-inflammatory agents in herbs.
