We wish to give you an insight into the various academic activities in the department, the available courses and their contents including a brief notes on the profile of all the academic and non academic staffs therein.

Abdulraheem Nimah Modupe attended Bayero University, Kano where she obtained her Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) Degree. She graduated in 1995 as the best graduating student in law and best graduating student in Islamic law. She had her Masters of Law (LL.M) Degree in 2003 at the prestigious Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife. She obtained her Ph.D Degree at University of Ilorin, Ilorin, Nigeria in 2010. She is currently a Reader at the Department of Jurisprudence and International, Faculty of Law, University of Ilorin, Ilorin, where she teaches Nigerian Legal Method and Nigerian Legal System. Her areas of interest include Human Rights, Islamic Law and Gender and Children Law. She has published extensively in referred local, national and international journals of high repute. Profile of Dr. D. A. Ariyoosu, Ag. Head, Department of Business Law, Faculty of Law, University of Ilorin

Dr. Dauda Adeyemi Ariyoosu was born on the 6th day of August 1972 at Iree, Boripe Local Government Area of Osun State. He attended Ansarul-Islam Primary School, Iree between 1977-1983. He underwent his Secondary School at Baptist High School, Iree, Osun State between 1988-1988. He attended University of Ilorin, Ilorin, Nigeria between 1995 and 2000 where he obtained a Bachelor of Law (LL.B) Degree in year 2000. He proceeded to the Nigerian Law School, Bwari, Abuja in 2001 where he had his professional degree as a Barrister at Law (BL) and was called to the Nigerian Bar in May 2002. He holds a Master of Law (LL.M) Degree from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Nigeria in 2006. He is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Business Law, Faculty of Law, University of Ilorin, Nigeria and the Acting Head of the Department. He also holds a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) Degree in Law from the same University of Ilorin in 2013. He is a notary public and his research areas include tax law, electronic commerce, telecommunications law, corporate law, arbitration and intellectual property law. He is an Associate Member of Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria, Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and Institute of Legal Executives of Nigeria. He has more than 25 publications to his credit.

DR. IBRAHIM IMAM, is a Senior Lecturer, former sub-dean, and Ag. Head of Department of Public Law, Faculty of Law, University of Ilorin, Ilorin, Nigeria. He was born in 1968 to the family of Late Sheikh Abubakar Salahudeen Imam Agbarigidoma, of Agbarigidoma Compound, Alore, Alimi Road Ilorin.

He had his primary education in Ilorin and secondary school education at Sultan Abubakar  College,  Sokoto where he obtained Grade  II Certificate 1983. He attended College of Education Oro, Kwara State  where he had his NCE Certificate of Education 1987. He Studied Law  at Usmanu Danfodiyo University Sokoto where he obtained LL.B degree in Law (Common and Islamic Law) in 1997. He attended the Nigeria Law School Abuja, where he obtatined his BL and was call to the Nigerian Bar 1999. He studied at Obafemi Awolowo University Ile-Ife, Osun State where he obtained Masters Degree in Law, in 2005 and Ph.D. in Law, from University of Ilorin in 2013.

He was formerly a lecturer and Head of Department, Common Law at the School of Law, Kwara State College of Arabic and Islamic Legal Studies Ilorin between January 1st, 2001 to 25th February, 2008. He secured employment as a lecturer in the Department of Public Law, Faculty of Law, University of Ilorin, 2008 where he is presently. He has published articles in Local, National and Internation journals and author of the book tile “The Law of Evidence in Nigeria” published by Malthouse Press Limited, in 2017.

Educated at Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto (LL.B. Islamic and Common Law) and Ph.D. (Islamic Law); and Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife (LL.M.). A barrister and solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria. He also has a teaching qualification (N.C.E) from University of Ilorin, Ilorin. He was a lecturer at Faculty of Law, Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto from 1993 to 1998, and since 1998, he has been at the Faculty of Law, University of Ilorin, Ilorin, where he is currently a Senior Lecturer and Ag. Head of Department of Islamic Law from 1st August 2013 to 31st July, 2017. He has published papers in national and reputable international journals. His areas of research interests are Mirath (Islamic Law of Inheritance), Wasiyyah (Law of Bequest), Waqf (Endowment) and Islamic Family Law. He is currently on sabbatical leave at Department of Shari’ah, Faculty of Law, Yobe State University, Damaturu, Nigeria.
