The Department of History and International Studies, University of Ilorin, has released the programmes for its 40th anniversary celebration coming up this Thursday (May 18, 2017).

According to a statement by the Head of the Department, Dr. I. A. Jawondo, among the programmes lined up for the celebration are Anniversary Lecture, HOD's Football Tournament, Anniversary Dinner, Awards and Inauguration of Alumni Forum.

The statement made available to Unilorin Bulletin disclosed that the Anniversary Lecture, entitled “Cassette Recorders, Microfiche Readers and Personal Computers: Traversing the Methodological Landscape from Analogue to Digital History of Nigeria”, will be delivered by the Vice-Chancellor of Kwararafa University, Wukari, Taraba State, Prof. Yakubu Ochefu at the University Auditorium by 10.00a.m.

The Dinner, Awards and Inauguration of the Alumni Forum will hold same day at the Banquet Hall by 6.00p.m.

The statement added that the former Council Chairman of the University of Port Harcourt, Alhaji Lasisi Kolawole Jimoh will be the Chairman of the occasion, while the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu Gambari is the Royal Father. The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof. AbdulGaniyu Ambali (OON), is the Chief Host, while the Dean of the Faculty of Arts, University of Ilorin, Prof. Ahmad Abdussalam is the Host.

A one-Day Symposium on the theme “Challenges and Way Forward to Adequate Electricity Supply for Socio-Economic Development in Nigeria” will hold this Tuesday (May 16, 2017), at the University of Ilorin Main Auditorium.

The Symposium, which is organised by the Department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering, University of Ilorin, in collaboration with the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC), the Power & Energy Society Nigeria Chapter (IEEE) as well as the Kwara State Ministry of Energy, will take place at the University Auditorium at 10.00am.

A statement made available to Unilorin Bulletin stated that the event would hold under the Chairmanship of the Kwara State Commissioner for Energy, Engr. Abubakar Garba Idris, while the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof. AbdulGaniyu Ambali will be the Chief Host.

The statement added that Guest Speakers at the event are Engr A.W. Salami, Regional Technical Manager, Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company, Osun State Region, Osogbo; Mr J.A. Ishola, Transmission Company of Nigeria, Ganmo Transmission Station, Kwara State; Engr. Oyelayo Philips, Mainstream Energy Solutions Limited, Kainji Hydro Power Station, Kainji; Engr. Fouad Sakha, Chief Technology Officer, IHS Towers, Nigeria; Engr. Hassan El Chami, Chief Technology Officer, MTN Nigeria and Prof. A.O. Melodi of the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Federal University of Technology, Akure.

The event will be hosted by the Dean, Faculty of Engineering and Technology, University of Ilorin, Prof. Y.A. Jimoh, and the Ag. Head of the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, University of Ilorin, Dr. M.F. Akorede.

The Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), University of Ilorin Branch, will this Thursday (May 11, 2017) elect new officers to pilot its affairs for the next four years.

A statement signed by the Secretary of the SSANU Electoral Committee, Comrade S.A. Ademola, stated that the contestants for the various positions will have the opportunity to present their manifestoes to the Congress on Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at the University Auditorium.

The University of Ilorin Muslim Ladies Circle will hold its Pre-Ramadan Public Lecture on Sunday (May 21, 2017) at the Africa Hall, Mini-Campus of the University.

A statement made available to Unilorin Bulletin disclosed that the lecture, which will start at 10.00a.m, will be delivered by Barr. Muhammad Muhammad Raji on the topic: “Ramadan: A Gift for Muslims.”

The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof. AbdulGaniyu Ambali is the Chief Host of the programme, while the Vice-Chancellor of the Kwara State University, Malete, Prof. AbdulRasheed Na'Allah and the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academic, University of Ilorin, Prof. (Mrs.) N.Y.S. Ijaiya, are Guests of Honour. The Chief Imam of the University of Ilorin, Prof. A.G.A.S. Oladosu is Special Guest of Honour.

The event will be held under the Chairmanship of Prof. M.M. Akanbi, the Director, School of Preliminary Studies, University of Ilorin and Prof. (Mrs.) O.R. Karim, the Deputy Director, JUPEB, Unilorin.

The statement added that the Chairman, Unilorin Muslim Community, Prof. B.L. Adeleke, is the Father of the Day while the Matron, Unilorin Muslim Ladies Circle, Dr (Mrs.) Hassanat Ambali, is the Mother of the Day.

2017 NYSC Pre-Mobilization Briefing for all Final Years Students

The NYSC Director General's briefing of prospective corps members (Final year students) for 2017 has been scheduled to hold on Tuesday, 9th May, 2017.
