Professor Adedayo Yusuf Abdulkareem


Professor AbdulKareem was born to the family of Alhaji and Madam Lambe Abdulkareem on May 29, 1951. He started his educational career at the Muslim Community Primary School, Ileoluji in 1955.  He attended Offa Grammar School, Offa from 1969 to 1973 and Advanced Teachers’ College (now Federal College of Education), Zaria from 1974 – 1977 for his NCE in Mathematics and Physics.  He had distinction in each of the two subjects.  He attended University of Ibadan, Ibadan from 1979 – 1981 to obtain B.Ed. (Hons.) in Educational Management and Mathematics. He was the University’s Department of Educational Management Federal Merit Awardee during the period. For his Master and Ph.D. degrees, he attended the University of Ilorin, Ilorin from 1983 to 1984 and 1985 to 1989 respectively. He was appointed as an Assistant Lecturer at the Kwara State College of Education, Ilorin in 1981 and left the College as a Principal Lecturer to join the University of Ilorin as a Lecturer I officer in 1995. He was appointed a Professor of Educational Management in the University in 2012.  He is a Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Management (Chattered). He belongs to a number of professional Associations. He has served as an external examiner to many Universities in Nigeria and abroad. He has a number of publications in reputable journals and books (local, national and international). He has served as a Consulting Editor to many reputable journals. He has also served the University on a number of Committees. He is the 11th Director of the Institute of Education, University of Ilorin. He served as the Head of Department of Educational Management between 2010 and 2013.  He also served as the Provost of the Kwara State College of Education, Ilorin between June 2005 and June 2010.  He was the National President of the University of Ilorin Alumni Association for two terms between 2003 and 2007.  He is a community leader.  He is married with children.
