Dr. M. A. Adedimeji

Dr. Mahfouz A. Adedimeji, the Ag. Director of the Centre for Peace and Strategic Studies, University of Ilorin is a language specialist with research interests in communication, pragmatics, stylistics, sociolinguistics, and applied linguistics.  He holds a B.A. (Honours), M.A. and Ph.D. degrees in English Language from the University of Ilorin, Nigeria, where he is an Associate Professor.
Dr. Adedimeji has undergone training in media and communications at Governors States University, Illinois, USA, and he holds the FLTA Certificate of the Institute of International Education (IIE), New York, United States.  He also holds the Education Certificates of the Virtual Institute for Higher Education Pedagogy (VIHEP) of the National Universities Commission (NUC), Nigeria.


A Fulbright scholar, cultural ambassador, peace practitioner, interfaith worker, communication consultant, newspaper columnist. Dr. Adedimeji had since 2000 acquired vast teaching and/or research experiences in such universities as Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, Nigeria; Al-Hikmah University, Ilorin, Nigeria; Governors State University, Illinois, USA;
University of Cape-Coast, Cape-Coast, Ghana; University of Ghana, Ghana; Kenyatta University, Kenya; University of Yaunde, Cameroon and Notre Dame University, Indiana, USA.

He has been a columnist at various times with a number of newspapers and periodicals in Nigeria since 2000. Apart from his teaching and research activities, he was the Deputy Director of the Directorate of Information and Protocol of the University of Ilorin (now Directorate of Corporate Affairs), where he was responsible, among several other duties, for the production of the University weekly newsletter, Unilorin Bulletin, and the University annual magazine, Unilorin Star, both of which he mostly wrote and edited between 2008 and 2012. He has also served creditably in several University statutory and ad hoc committees, during the period, including Chairman of the Editorial Board at Unilorin Bulletin

Dr. Adedimeji has taught courses in the Use of English, Creative Writing, Advanced Writing Composition, Applied Linguistics, Sociolinguistics, Pragmatics, Creative Writing, Philosophy of Language, African Novel, Syntax, Semantics and Semiotics in Nigerian and American universities. He has also attended and presented papers in several academic conferences in Nigeria, Ghana, United
States, Malaysia, Cameroon, Sierra Leone, Kenya and Australia. He has about sixty publications in reputable outlets across Nigeria and beyond to his credit.

He is a member of the Nigeria English Studies Association (NESA), Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA) and Fulbright Alumni Association of Nigeria (FAAN). He is also fellow of the Society for Peace Studies and Practice, Institute for Corporate Administration (ICAN), World Institute for Peace; as well as a member of the Governing Council of the International Peace Research Association (IPRA).
