Research ActivitiesThe academic staff carry out research activities according to their interest in the areas of Arabic language, literature, rhetoric, literary criticism, Islamic literature and Arabic Studies in Nigeria. Such research works have been presented at seminars and conferences at the University of Ilorin as well as conferences within Nigeria and beyond, especially in the U.S.A., Morocco, U.K. and Egypt. Moreover, some of the research works have been published in numerous journals in Nigeria like :NATAIS, AL-Fikr, Malam, Al-Nahdah, Centrepoint, JARS and LASU Journal of Humanities. On the international scene, some members of staff have published their works in Muslim Educational Quarterly (Cambridge), Journal of Muslim Minority Affairs (London), Islamic Culture (Hyderabad, India), Hamdard Islamicus (Karachi), Islamic Order (Karachi), Al-Mashriq (Beirut), Iqbal Review (Lahore), Studies in Islam (New Delhi), Al-Dirasat Al-Islamiyyah (Islamabad), Journal of Oriental and African Studies (Athens, Greece), and Research in Arabic Literature in Africa (Columbus, USA). In addition, the academic staff have published a number of Arabic books in Nigeria, Egypt and Germany. Some of them also have published creative works such as collections of poems (in Arabic and English), plays and collections of short stories (in Arabic) to their credit. These are read and studied in West Africa and beyond. It is no gainsaying to state, therefore, that academics in this Department are top-ranking scholars whose worth is recognized nationally and internationally.
