Department of ArabicA Brief Introduction In 1976 when the University began its academic programmes, Arabic was one of the foundation courses and was in the Department of Arabic and Islamic Studies. A year later, the Department’s name was changed to the Department of Religions when Christian Studies was introduced as a third degree course. Arabic remained in the Department of Religions until 2004 when a separate department was created for it as we have it today. Bachelor’s degree holders in Arabic have been produced as far back as 1979. Many of them have been employed nationally and internationally both in the public and private sectors and are performing creditably
