Admission Requirements

All candidates applying into the Faculty of Arts through U.M.E. must have Credit in any two subjects chosen at single Honours Programmes.
UME Entry Requirements into the programmes of the Faculty are the same as general entry requirements into the University programmes. Specifically, candidates must have at least five (5) credits (including English Language) at not more than two (2) sittings in GCE/SSCE/NECO/Equivalent except that the five (5) subjects should be the chosen course of study ( or relevant to it) while the others should be from Arts, Social Sciences and/or Science.
Direct Entry requirements into the programmes of the Faculty are also same as general entry requirements into the University but A/L passes should include the subject(s) of the chosen course of study (or relevant to it) and any other from Arts, Social Sciences and/or Science.
All direct entry candidates must basically meet U.M.E. requirements.
Remedial Arts programme (which was resuscitated in 2005/2006 academic session) is also recognized for admission into 100 level programmes of the Faculty provided the candidates pass the (Remedial) examination and meet the entry requirements stated in paragraph (ii) above.

UNILORIN accepts Diploma in Religious Studies or Theology of London or Theology of Ibadan or an accredited Nigerian University.

COMPARATIVE RELIGIOUS STUDIES

(i) At least two ‘A’ level passes in Christian Religious Studies or Islamic Religious Studies and any other Arts/Social Science/ Science Subject.

(ii) ND/NCE in Christian/Islamic

Studies.

Five ‘O’ level credit passes to include English Language, Christian Religious Knowledge/ Islamic Religious Studies and any other three Arts/Social Science/Science Subjects.

ENGLISH LANGUAGE

At least two ‘A’ Level passes to include Literature-in-English and one other Arts or Social Science Subject.

Five ‘O’ level credit passes to include

Literature-in-English, English Language and three other Arts/Social Science Subjects.

Lit-in-English, one other Arts subject and another Arts of Social Science subject.

FRENCH

ISLAMIC STUDIES

At least two ‘A’ level passes to include Islamic Studies and any other Arts/Social Science Subject.

Five ‘O’ level credit passes to include English Language and Islamic Religious Studies or Arabic and any other three Arts/Social Science Subjects.

PERFORMING ARTS

(i) At least two ‘A’ level passes to include Fine Arts/Music/Literature-in-English and any other Arts/ Social Science/Science Subject

(ii) NCE passes at merit level in English/Music/Fine Arts and /or Applied Arts as a major subject

UNILORIN accepts ABRSM Grade V and above (Music Theory) or equivalent certificate in lieu of credit pass in Lit-in-English.

YORUBA

At least two ‘A’ level passes to include

Yoruba and any other Arts/Social Science Subject.

Five ‘O’ level credit passes to include Yoruba, English Language and three other Arts/Social Science Subjects.

Yoruba and two other subjects in Arts/Social Science.

DIRECT ENTRY

UNILORIN accepts NCE/Diploma (Upper Credit) in Yoruba and Social Science Subjects.
