Use your residential quarters properly, Baba charges UNILORIN staff

The Estate Officer, University of Ilorin, Mr Bolakale Sahid Baba, has urged staff members of the University who are occupying official quarters to ensure proper use of the facilities.

Mr Baba, who is also a Deputy Director at the Works Department of the University, gave this advice last Monday (April 8, 2024) while speaking with UNILORIN BULLETIN in his office.

The  Estate Officer said that the occupants of the facilities should see it as a privilege, which must be used properly for their own benefit and in the interest of future occupants.

Mr Baba, who is a Fellow of the Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers, said that the allottees should consider their accommodation as a privilege in view of the several advantages they derive in living on campus.

He pointed out that he was always disturbed seeing staff residences being overgrown with weeds and untidy, saying that such practice is not good enough as it may encourage the breeding of dangerous reptiles.

He also urged the occupants of the houses to cultivate the habit of ensuring the swift repair of minor faults in their residences while major ones should be promptly reported for immediate attention of the University.

Mr Baba similarly appealed to students living on campus to conduct themselves in accordance with the rules and regulations governing their hostels.

He assured staff and students that  management would continue to ensure that essential services such as water and public power supply are provided for those  residents at the Main Campus and the GRA Quarters to ensure that they live quality lives.

While urging interested staff members who are yet to be allocated quarters on campus to be patient, he assured them that their applications will be favourably treated as soon as there are vacancies.

Departments roll out  drums as Oyenuga attains Professorship

The Department of Criminology and Security Studies and the Department of Sociology,  University of Ilorin, are in jubilant mood following the elevation of a sabbatical staff member at the Department of Criminology and Security Studies, Prof. Adedeji Saheed Oyenuga, to the prestigious Professorial Chair by his home institution.

Prof. Oyenuga, who is a United Nations consultant whose research interests are in Criminology, Social Problems, Deviant Behaviour and Critical Cybernetics, among others, is among the recently promoted academic staff of the Lagos State University, Ojo.

Recently, the newly elevated don led a team, which comprised some staff and students of the Department of Criminology and Security Studies, to carry out an experiment that successfully uncovered fingerprints of robbers, a novel feat in forensic research that has put the Department and indeed the University of Ilorin in the limelight.

Speaking at the ceremony held at the Department recently, the Head of the Department of Criminology and Security Studies, Prof. Ali Arazeem Abdullahi, said, “I am elated that Oyenuga reached the pinnacle of his academic career during his sabbatical in the Department. He has proven to be an exceptional individual, bringing vibrancy, commitment, and significant value to the Department.  Since his arrival, his contributions have been invaluable, and through his presence, we truly understand the significance of sabbatical appointments.’’

The Head of the Department elaborated that “Prof. Oyenuga’s presence has  enriched the Department; his contributions to the breakthrough in fingerprint detection, which has garnered attention towards the Department, both locally and internationally, stands as a testament to his expertise.”

Prof. Abdullahi recalled how a distraught staff member of the University of Ilorin whose house was burgled, sought help from the Criminology Department having been disillusioned by lack of action by law enforcement agencies.  “Thanks to Oyenuga’s expertise, we were able to provide the solution, bringing relief and satisfaction to the individual. As a result of the discovery, we’ve received numerous enquiries, both from within and outside Ilorin. It’s remarkable how our Department, with Oyenuga’s expertise, has been able to accomplish what even security agencies couldn’t achieve”.

In his reaction, Prof. Oyenuga expressed gratitude to the management and staff of the Criminology Department for identifying with him following his elevation to the Professorial Chair by his home university.

Odetoye produces biodiesel from eggshells

In line with the efforts of the nation’s most sought-after University, the University of Ilorin, towards developing homegrown technology that would enhance the socio-economic progress of the country, a  Professor of Chemical Engineering at the University, Temitope Elizabeth Odetoye, has produced biodiesel through the exploration of chicken eggshell-derived heterogeneous catalyst.

Prof. Odetoye, who disclosed this in a chat with UNILORIN BULLETIN in her office, explained that the feat was accomplished through  ‘‘trans esterification experiment’’.

The don, who recently delivered the 253rd Inaugural Lecture, said that the yield showed that eggshell was an affordable potential catalyst source for biodiesel production.

The renowned scholar said that “the utilisation of eggshells can add value to the poultry production process and minimise waste in the poultry industry”.

Prof. Odetoye pointed out that biodiesel had been considered one of the sustainable fuel alternatives.

She noted that the high production cost of biodiesel when juxtaposed with fossil fuel, remaines one of the major drawbacks in biodiesel production.

Prof. Odetoye defined biofuel as fuel made from biomass, saying: “Biofuel is synonymous with biocrude, biodiesel, bio-oil, biogas, bioethanol, biosyngas and bioslurry fuels.”

The Professor of Chemical Engineering added that Nigeria is endowed with abundant lignocellulosic biomass residues waiting to be explored through more environmentally friendly ways.

Saliu expresses concern on Nigeria’s challenges

A former Dean of the old Faculty of Business and Social Sciences, University of Ilorin, Prof. Hassan Ajisafe Saliu, has expressed great concern on the state of the nation, saying that the country is currently undergoing a most challenging time since the advent of civil rule in 1999.

Prof. Saliu, who spoke in his capacity as  the National President of the Nigeria Political Scientists Association (NPSA), explained that contemporary realities show that Nigeria is in the throes of a governance crisis, which straddles the nation’s political and economic spheres as he noted that the nation’s democracy still offers more hopeful prospects for comprehensive growth and development than any conceivable alternative.

In a press statement, Prof. Saliu said that the crisis threatens the livelihoods of the majority of Nigerians and the stability of the nation.

The don pointed out that, although the country has been able to conduct regular and periodic elections after decades of authoritarian military rule, democracy has not translated into inclusive growth because the security and welfare of citizens have not been prioritised by successive elected governments.

Prof. Saliu noted, ”If anything, there has been a worsening of development outcomes as indicated by deepening multi-dimensional poverty. Currently, we are witnesses to spontaneous public outcries and demonstrations in protest of the rising cost of living as major government policies fuel inflation while eroding the purchasing power of ordinary Nigerians”.

The NPSA President added, “Surviving a bitterly fought General Elections in 2023 with ethno-regional divisive undertones, it is expected that the mantra of national unity and elite consensus on major policy issues would take the centre stage. But what the country has witnessed is a dramatic worsening of living conditions that generates apprehension in citizens regarding the prospect of national stability and the achievement of decent and dignified life.

He added, “We are witnesses to the free fall of the country’s currency, leading to exponential increase in the costs of imported goods. Food prices have skyrocketed due partly to the increase in the pump prices of petrol. The steep decline in real wages and growing insecurity in cities and on the highways have created a sense of helplessness among Nigerians.”

The association, which consists of scholars of Political Science from all over Nigeria, noted that these developments have plunged the middle class and the urban poor into conditions of a Hobbesian nightmare of huge proportions.

Prof. Saliu insisted, “The spiral of uncertainty, exacerbated by the complicit role of the legislature at both national and sub-national levels in its failure to reign in the executive branch, all points to a looming severe legitimacy crisis capable of derailing our struggling democracy or bringing it to immense grief.

The renowned academic and administrator, who is also a former Member of the Governing Council of the Kwara State University, Malete, said that the nation is experiencing a rapid escalation in the cost of living, which is unparalleled and concerning.

He added that the rise is attributed to various issues, such as the significant decline in the real sectors of the economy, the sharp increase in food prices due to the elimination of fuel subsidies, and the escalation in the operations of non-state armed groups, each with distinct regional characteristics.

Prof. Saliu, who said that the NPSA’s intervention is informed by its core mandate of periodic audit of the operators of the country’s political system, said that the nation’s situation is both fascinating and disquieting.

He noted further that Nigeria is currently utilising more funds than its entire revenue to manage its public debts, resorting to borrowing from both domestic and foreign sources to finance its national budgets.

Eid-el-Fitri: UNILORIN Chief Imam charges leaders on citizens’ plight

The Chief Imam of the University of Ilorin Central Mosque, Prof. Nasir AbdusSalam, has urged Nigerians, particularly those holding leadership positions, to always be sensitive to the plight of the ordinary people.

Prof. AbdusSalam made this call last Wednesday (April 10, 2024) while delivering this year’s Eid-el-Fitri sermon at the UNILORIN Eid Praying Ground.

The Chief Imam pointed out that it is very important for leaders to be sensitive to the plight of those they lead, saying that others should also show concern for their colleagues at work and  neighbours  at home and must develop keen interest in offering assistance to them whenever the need arises.

He added that offering assistance to others is one of the lessons taught by Ramadan.

Prof. AbdusSalaam explained that Nigerian citizens are the neighbours of the Federal Government, the inhabitants of a state are the neighbours of the State Government, workers in an industry/parastatal are the neighbours of the management of the MDA as he encouraged all to treat their neighbours with love and compassion to ensure their wellbeing.

He noted that to be interested in the plight of our neighbours is strongly connected with our level of faith, saying, “a faithless person will never enter Paradise”.

Prof. AbdusSalaam enjoined Muslims that have developed good acts and virtues during Ramadan to preserve such virtues even after Ramadan.

The Chief Imam added that the provision of food and drinks to the poor, the needy, and relations that was practised during the sacred month should not be suspended but continued after  Ramadan.

He also reminded the believers that though the month of Ramadan has come and gone, there are other recommended voluntary fast and good deeds that would keep them on the right track before the next Ramadan. He said  that, “among these are Zakatul Fitri, six days fast in this month of Shawwal encouraged by the Prophet (SAW) and other acts of righteousness, among several acts’’.

The Chief Imam, who quoted relevant verses of the glorious Quran and the sayings of the Prophet (SAW), said that the lessons imbibed from the one-month spiritual journey through Ramadan, include patience, endurance and self-restraint from sexual desires, generousity and feelings for others, which qualified obedient Muslims for Allah’s promised Paradise.

In his message at the event,  the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN,  thanked Allah for the privilege granted to members of the University community to witness the end of this year’s Ramadan.

‘Execution of Public Trust’: The Ali-Agan’s Example
Over the last three eventful decades, Prof. Abubakr Imam Ali-Agan, the immediate past Head of the Department of Religions, University of Ilorin, has made a great name for himself within and around Ilorin and even beyond. This gentleman is widely respected and acknowledged as an erudite scholar, a seasoned academic and an uncompromising preacher.
Prof. Ali-Agan started out as a prolific Islamic broadcaster in the employ of the Kwara State Broadcasting Corporation (Radio Kwara), Ilorin. While serving as a media professional, Prof. Ali-Agan succeeded in cultivating tremendous listernership for his thought-provoking and spiritually stimulating programmes on Radio Kwara. This admiration followed him to everywhere he went, including the University of Ilorin, at the end of his exciting career at the oldest radio station in Kwara State.
While many love his unique style of presentation, quite a number are often left disgusted with his characteristic rigid and consistently uncompromising tendencies as an on-air personality and public speaker. He is a man who believes in saying it as it is, no matter whose ox is gored.
But the fascinating way he is handling the distribution of the rice palliative entrusted to him by the Governor of Kwara State, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, CON, would certainly endear him to the hearts of more of the ordinary people of the community who are the target beneficiaries of the scheme.
I think he has been handling the assignment in a very fantastic and transparent manner, which justifies his calling. He is trying his best towards ensuring that only the truly deserving people benefit from the scheme, which is meant to alleviate the suffering of the ordinary people.
How did I know? It was a senior friend of mine who sent me five bags of 5kg of rice to help him share to the less privileged around me. I did as he requested.
Since I knew that, that friend of mine does not have the capacity to render such a help, I enquired from him where, how and from whom he got the bags of rice given to me for onward distribution.
My elderly friend explained to me that it was the seasoned cleric-don who gave him several bags of the commodity to help him distribute to the less privileged ones. And that he felt that I, as a community person, could also help him to discharge the responsibility.
Having explained the source, my friend appealed to me to also place a call to Prof. Ali-Agan for him to be convinced “beyond reasonable doubt” that he did as charged.
I wasted no time in calling the Professor of Islamic Studies on phone as pleaded. Prof. Ali-Agan was impressed that I was involved. He asked me to see him.
When I got to him, he explained how the Governor enlisted his assistance in ensuring that the palliatives get to those who truly deserve it.
He pointed out that when the Governor first called him, he rejected the assignment. The Hadith specialist, however, explained that he later accepted the task when the Governor “threatened” that he (the Professor) should be prepared for blame if the target (ordinary) people did not get the palliatives as intended.
On how he carried out the distribution, the Professor said that he would not explain to me in detail but I should try to make myself available at his residence on any date of my choice in the course of the last ten days of Ramadan.
Without the Professor’s knowledge, I decided to pick Monday, April 1, 2024, which was a public holiday. I got there about 10 a.m and I met a multitude of people representing different traditional mosques and groups from across Ilorin.
I instantly became a “participant observer” as I listened to his pre-distribution exultation or address to the people who had converged on the premises of his An-Nur Group of Schools, Shehu Shagari Estate, Oloje, Ilorin, on how he came about the task and how the palliative s should be shared.
Prof. Ali-Agan was emphatic on who deserves it. He insisted that it is meant for the widows, the poor, the orphans, the unemployed and the aged, among other categories of the less privileged members of the society. He made it abundantly clear that it was not meant to serve as political patronage or any form of “showmanship”.
The prolific orator added that Christians and other categories of non-Muslims who are poor should also be given. He nevertheless said that the distributors could also take a proportional fraction of the item as he supported his position with a Quranic verse.
After doing what he knows how to do best, the distribution of the palliative began. He asked the representatives of the different communities present to come in with their vehicles in order to take delivery of the item. He would thereafter ask such individuals to sign for the item before departing. I was impressed that he supervised the entire processes by himself.
In my presence, he placed telephone calls to many of those who had previously registered with him. I later understand that it was the second time that he would be shouldering the responsibility.
I must add that yours sincerely was also given 20 bags of the 5kg of rice, which he has since distributed to those he was convinced deserve it by virtue of their socioeconomic status. He was also sent to two distinguished community leaders with the same number of the commodity for onward distribution to the needy in their vicinities as well.
He bade each of the groups of “collectors” with his characteristic “Iwonu Olohun nun”(I leave you with your conscience) mannerism.
Prof. Ali-Agan, a son of the legendary Sarkin Malamai of Ilorin, Shaykh Yac’qoob Muhammad Busary Ali-Agan, attended the famous Ansarul Islam Primary School, Okekere, Ilorin. He was also educated at the School of Arabic Studies, Kano.
He, thereafter, proceeded to the prestigious Bayero University, Kano, from where he earned his first degree in Islamic Studies. It was, however, from the University of Ilorin that Prof. Ali-Agan received his Master’s and doctorate degrees in the same field.
Prof. Ali-Agan joined the services of the Better By Far University as a Lecturer at the Islamic Studies Unit of its Department of Religions. In appreciation of his consistently positive efforts in the realms of teaching, research and community service, this outspoken social critic and religious leader was deservedly elevated to the exalted rank of Professor by the authorities of the nation’s most sought-after University in 2020.
All said and done, one thing that impressed me most and which pushed me into deep thought was when the influential academic concluded by swearing with the Holy Quran that not even a grain of the rice was and would be consumed either by any member of his family or pupil of his increasingly popular school. I sincerely regard his declaration as a perfect exemplification of the motto of the University of Ilorin, which is character and learning.
What a great instance of leadership by example!

Drive with care, Garba charges UNILORIN motorists

The Sub-Dean, Student Affairs Division, University of Ilorin, Dr Mohammed Kabir Garba, has enjoined motorists, particularly commercial drivers plying the University routes to always drive with care to ensure the safety of members of the University community.

The Sub-Dean gave this advice recently while speaking with UNILORIN BULLETIN in his office.

Dr Garba said that it is very important for motorists to always have the presence of mind while driving in order to avoid any form of road mishap that could expose innocent members of the University community to danger.

The Sub-Dean said that it is very important for the drivers to be particularly careful with students   whether commuting in their vehicles or not, saying that the existence of the University, which gave them the privilege to operate in the University, is premised on the presence of students.

Dr Garba said that without the students no one would derive any means of livelihood at the University. He, therefore, said, ‘‘every effort must be made towards preserving the lives and health of these young people even when they are propelled by youthful exuberance to act ignorantly or carelessly’’.

He explained that the advice is necessitated by some reports made available to the Student Affairs Division that some of the commercial drivers ignore traffic code and civility while driving, a tendency which he said could cause accidents that could lead to students unrest.

The Statistics scholar  implored motorists not to always insist on their rights of passage, particularly when they observed that their fellow road users are careless.

Mr Adisa, who expressed gratitude for the quality of academic and attitudinal training he received at the University of Ilorin, noted that access to the internet means access to an endless wealth of information.

He added that the internet would continue to allow students to delve deeper into their studies and broaden their understanding of various subjects.

Speaking specifically on his experiences at the University of Strathclyde, Scotland during his Masters degree programme, Mr Adisa noted that his Professors in “Discourse Analysis” often expressed admiration at his comprehension of the course, which he first encountered at the University of Ilorin.

On the quality of lecturers at the nation’s most sought-after University, Mr Adisa said, “I am confident that lecturers like Professors Mahfouz Adedimeji and Taofeeq Alabi would captivate the hearts of students in my department if given the opportunity to teach them “.

Mr Adisa recalled that he had a reason to challenge his grade in a particular course back in Scotland as he explained the role which his foundation at the University of Ilorin played in overcoming the problem.

He added, “The University of Ilorin possesses a communal spirit that envelopes me in a sense of connection akin to that between a fetus and its mother. Given my positive relationships with my lecturers at the University of Ilorin, especially Professors Mahfouz Adedimeji and Jeleel Ojuade, I developed a habit of easily relating with my teachers. Additionally, I believe I learned confidence from Prof. AbdulRasheed Adeoye, who served as my staff adviser when I was the President of the Faculty of Arts Students Association. The varied experiences I gained from these academics-the confidence of Adeoye, the humility of Mahfouz, and the friendliness of Ojuade later assisted me in assertively demanding my rights during my Master’s studies at the University of Strathclyde, United Kingdom”.

He recalled a particular situation, which he said stands out in his memory, saying during his Master’s studies, particularly in the course titled “Research Skills in Media and Communication” (P3978), he had a cause to complain about a disappointing score of 22 out of 100.

He said, “I was undeniably disheartened. Without delay, I contacted my Professor, expressing my disbelief and requesting a reevaluation of my work. Despite her assurance of the accuracy of the assessment, I persisted, drawing from my prior experiences, particularly the research and communication skills honed while working on the Governor of Ogun State’s 100 Days in Office report during my time as a corps member at the Ministry of Information and Strategy.

A meeting was promptly convened to address the discrepancy, leading to the discovery of a glitch in either the online platform or the Turnitin system. Consequently, my script was reevaluated, and to my relief, I received a revised score of 72%,  an A grade”.

Let’s celebrate UNILORIN outstanding graduates more-Abdulsalam

The Deputy Director, Student Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SWIES) Unit, University of Ilorin, Mr Kola Suleiman Abdulsalam, has implored the authorities of the institution to devise more means of encouraging academic excellence among the students of the University.

Mr Abdulsalam gave this advice last Wednesday (April 3, 2024) while speaking to UNILORIN BULLETIN in his office.

The senior administrator explained that, while the existing system of rewarding academic excellence among students is good and commendable, more is needed to be done for all the students of the University to give more focus to their studies.

Mr Abdulsalam said that apart from the huge cash gifts and other materials, which the best graduating student is often bestowed with, the display of the portrait,  as well as final result of such an individual at strategic locations on campus would definitely go a long way in encouraging those coming behind to pursue academic excellence in order for them to also deserve the honour.

The Deputy Director, who is a 1986 graduate of the Better By University, said that since there is no individual who wouldn’t love to be celebrated most especially by the University, the implementation of the suggestion would be a morale booster.

Mr Abdulsalam added that the portrait of the most outstanding graduate of the year should be displayed from the date of his convocation till the following one at places like the University Fountain, the Main Gate, the Motor Park, the Main Library and the Main Auditorium as well as at the various Faculties.

He pointed out that when others, particularly new students, see the portrait across the campus, they would certainly be motivated to work harder to deserve such celebrations.

Dr Ameen gave this advice recently while delivering a health talk as part of the annual Ramadan Lecture of the Ilorin Emirate Staff Association, University of Ilorin.

Odetoye canvasses homegrown technology-driven economy

A Professor at the Department of Chemical Engineering, University of Ilorin,Temitope Elizabeth Odetoye, has urged the Federal Government to be more intentional about developing a home-grown technology-driven economy.

Prof. Odetoye made this appeal last Thursday (April 4,2024) while delivering the 253rd Inaugural Lecture of the University, titled “Symphony of Biomass, Bioenergy and Bioproducts for Sustainability” at the University Auditorium.

The renowned academic, who holds two doctorate degrees, explained that the suggestion is particularly imperative in the area of biofuel production and waste management.

She noted that with the high turnout of biomass residues and solid wastes generated daily in Nigeria, the potential for biofuel production should be harnessed through the adoption of pyrolysis pilot plants, scale up and commercialisation.

Prof. Odetoye also called for the standardisation of waste management methods in a way that would include sorting from source to prepare feedstock.

She also advised that waste management team should work hand-in-hand with researchers to incorporate pyrolysis as part of the waste treatment technique which will involve the formulation of relevant policies including sorting of biomass and other wastes from the source.

Prof. Odetoye said that efforts should be intensified towards devising means of converting wastes to wealth and creating waste-collecting jobs for people and opportunities for skilled engineers and technicians.

She noted that this would surely make the nation’s physical environment to be cleaner and more sanitised as well as more conducive for habitation.

Prof. Odetoye also said that the proper management of waste would also reduce bush burning as she said that dried grass also has economic value.

She suggested that the private investors should work in partnership with researchers and take bold steps towards exploring the advantages associated with proper waste management.

The Inaugural Lecturer, who is the 21st Chairman of the Ilorin Branch of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, also appealed to stakeholders to urgently review the nation’s current biofuel policy in a way that will make it suit the Nigerian environment and situations. She added that the government has to demonstrate strong political will in order to drive the biofuel policy to satisfaction.

Prof. Odetoye also suggested the establishment of the Biofuel Energy Commission under the Ministry of Petroleum Resources in order to monitor the implementation of the biofuel policy from time to time and carry out necessary reviews as implementation progresses.

She equally suggested the establishment of the centres of excellence where pyrolysis and other biofuel technologies will be taken as the research focus towards developing the nation’s biofuel technology that will be suitable and sustainable with local materials that can be developed by Nigerian academics and researchers.

Prof. Odetoye, who is a former Chairman of the Association of Professional Women Engineers of Nigeria (APWEN), also called for the sensitisation of researchers towards conduct  proactive research for more realistic methods and utilisation of locally available feedstock for biofuel production. Alaro canvasses “balanced education” for proper development

A former Head of the Department of Islamic Law, University of Ilorin, Prof. AbdulRazzaq AbdulMajeed Alaro, mni, has urged parents and guardians to prioritise the spiritual well-being of their children and wards as the younger ones are stimulated towards the pursuit of preferred professional training.

Prof. Alaro gave this advice penultimate Sunday (March 3, 2024) while speaking at the graduation ceremony of Al-Hudah Islamiyyah School, Ilorin. The school is owned by a distinguished educationist and former Deputy Vice Chancellor (Management Services), University of Ilorin, Prof. Adedayo Yusuf Abdulkareem

The renowned specialist in Islamic financial services explained that unveiling  situations across the world have shown that members of the younger generations needed to be exposed to what he called “balanced education” for them to live a very useful life and contribute meaningfully to human development.

Prof. Alaro, who is a member of the Central Bank of Nigeria’s Financial Regulation Advisory Council of Experts, opined that for proper growth and development every human being needed to nurture his body and soul. He explained that while professional training would provide food for the body, the diet needed by the soul is solely obtainable from religious and moral teachings.

He added that the absence of either of the two may not only retard the desired development but may also lead to outright destruction of both the body and the soul.

While he explained that it is good for parents to devote substantial resources and efforts towards their children becoming great in life through Western formal education, he added that such training must be mingled with the inculcation of the right values, which religious education has in abundance, for such individuals to become useful to themselves and the society at large.

The renowned cleric-don warned that any form of education that is devoid of religious education would only lead to perversion.

Prof. Alaro, who is also a member of the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria-based National Fatwa Committee, said that when young children are exposed to religious and moral teachings right from infancy they would grow to become responsible citizens.

To buttress his position, Prof. Alaro recalled the case of a French-born Professor of Economics and ex-President of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Dominique Strauss-Kahn, who did not only lose his highly-coveted position ignobly but also consequently failed in his bid to become the President of his country simply because he couldn’t act rightly with a member of the opposite sex.

The award-winning legal luminary explained that if the ex-IMF Chief had gone through proper religious and moral instructions while growing up he would not have experienced what he went through as a result of his attempt to have forceful carnal knowledge of an innocent woman.

Prof. Alaro commended the former Deputy Vice Chancellor for establishing and nurturing the school, which he said would continue to produce remarkable future gentlemen and ladies like its proprietor.

He urged other serving and retired academics and public officers as well as privileged individuals to find a way of giving back to the society as exemplified in the establishment of the School by Prof. Abdulkareem, who is also a former Provost, Kwara State College of Education, Ilorin.
